Week 2 of DFS Wars was the week of the DONG. A whopping 48 home runs were hit on Friday night, the most of any day this season. The bombs were flyin’.

It is impressive, then, that Ryan Noonan was able to steal victory with a roster that only managed a single home run (Avisail Garcia). A.J. Pollock made it happen with his legs (two stolen bases) and Francisco Cervelli had a big night with a pair of hits (one was a triple), two runs scored, and three RBI. With a monster 31.9 FDP, Cervelli may as well have hit a home run.

Last but certainly not least, Noonan benefited from the Charlie Morton show in Houston. Morton allowed four runs to the Oakland Athletics but saved his day with seven innings, 12 (!) strikeouts, and the win. His 51 FDP was the highest score of any player and was just enough for Noonan to fend off Andrew Gould.

Gould was the Week 1 winner and turned in a second straight top finish in Week 2. His squad amassed 163.50 FDP on the backs of Manny Machado (40.9), Mark Trumbo (35.2), and Jeff Samardzija (34). Gould could have had an even bigger night if his Detroit stack had come through against Mike Pelfrey. Instead, Pelfrey limited the damage and limited Gould’s lineup–if not, we could easily be discussing Gould posting back-to-back first place finishes.

BrocNessMonster snagged third with a 158 FDP effort. He too built around Samardzija, but the real story was Aaron Judge (43.9) and his pair of home runs. C-DICK (27.9) made another appearance in the top three teams on strength of a home run and a double.

Kevin Pillar (43.1) was the play of the night for only $3,000. That’s 14.37x value for anyone counting at home. Malamoney, who finished in fourth place by a tenth of a point, was the only tout to roster Pillar.

That’s it for Week 2, ladies and gents! Look for an updated leaderboard to be up soon. Cheers!
