“Malamoney runs away with Week 3” is a shout-out to the Kentucky Derby happening today. I never watch horse racing but I always get sucked into the Derby. My money is on McCracken…what fine Scottish name that is…
Anyway, Malamoney (Razzball) scored 182.50 FDP on Friday, besting the 2nd-place finisher by over 11 FDP. The secret to such dominance was utilizing Chris Archer and Cody Bellinger in the same lineup. Archer struck out 11 Blue Jays and snagged a quality start (46 FDP) and Bellinger continued to rake (two home runs and a single for 47.4 FDP). A two-man Texas stack of Elvis Andrus (21.5 FDP) and Rougned Odor (22.2 FDP) paid off in a big way when Odor crushed a game-winning home run in the top of the 13th inning against Seattle.
2nd-place BrocNessMonster (Fantasy Guru Elite, Double Dong DFS Podcast) was hamstrung by an abbreviated start by Danny Salazar (4.2 IP, 2 ER, 7 SO). Salazar still maanged 29 FDP but for a squad that had plenty of bats “hit” Salazar was a letdown. Bellinger (47.4), Brian McCann (32.2), Curtis Granderson (25.2), and Miguel Sano (21.7) all came through in a big way. BrocNessMonster’s team finished with 170.90 FDP.
Despite working late on Friday, Justin Klein of The Fake Baseball and Rotoballer came in third place with a 150 FDP lineup. Kenta Maeda (36), Ryan Zimmerman (27.7), Rougned Odor (22.2), Elvis Andrus (21.5), and Evan Longoria (18.2) were the primary contributors. Apparently when Elvis Andrus is batting cleanup you need to consider starting him…
The top-scoring player from Friday night was Paul Goldschmidt (53.9). Goldy’s double-dong night was expensive at $5,200…if you used him you really would have needed to find the right values elsewhere…
Cody Bellinger‘s 47.4 FDP came for a meager $2,800 in salary…so he was the obvious value pick of the day.
