Friday was a low-scoring night but Klein tallied a solid 174.3 mark, more than 16 FDP higher than the next degenerate. He did so by keeping it simple with Max Scherzer against the lowly Padres. Mad Max logged a cool 72 FDP. Jed Lowrie ($2,300) was the highest-owned hitter of the night at 35% and came through with 15.5 FDP. Lucas Duda ($2,600) was another value, amassing 25.2 FDP. Finally, Jett Bandy ($2,600) homered in the desert for 21.7 FDP. Basically, Klein found the right value plays to make the high-priced pitcher work…and the pitcher obviously didn’t disappoint. In other news: target those lowly Padres.

WHUDEY went rogue and rostered Masahiro Tanaka against the Athletics–one of only two degens to do so. Tanaka crushed it with 62 FDP on a whopping 13 strikeouts. Kendrys Morales (21.7) and Adam Duvall (24.9) were the standouts who made it work. Andres Blanco as a 2K punt-play came through with 12.2 FDP, too.

Lastly, Lance Brozdowski finished in third place with a 153.6 FDP effort. Scherzer was again the building block, but Rougned Odor (28.7) engaged in some late-game heroics to put this squad into the money. Avisail Garcia (22.5) and a fresh-off-the-DL Troy Tulowitzki (12.2) were the other primary contributors.

All in all it was a night without a ton of fireworks, so nabbing the right pitcher was essential. To the 30% of our degenerates who rostered Mike Clevinger, you know what I’m talking about…

After a couple of weeks of not writing updates, there is a new leader atop our leaderboard. Tim Finnegan of Baseball Prospectus has been crushing it lately…go see who else you can find up at the top. As always, follow along on Twitter for DFS content by our degenerates all week long.
